Pawty for a purpose at Heartland Animal Shelter’s Golden Paw Gala! Dine, sip, and mingle with fellow animal lovers in an unfurgettable location. Bid on amazing prizes in our silent auction, participate in the Fund-a-Cause, and rock out to Ellis Clark.

 

The Gala takes place five months after a flood devastated the Heartland building. Thankfully, all 101 dogs and cats were unharmed. At the Gala, we will recognize the public outpouring of support that allowed us to begin the rebuilding process. In addition, we will present the first annual “Big Heart” Award, honoring the person who saved our animals during the flood.

Ellis Clark has been a longtime fixture of the Chicago music community working nationally as a performing musician with his band Big Hair Big Trouble, Ellis Clark & The Big Parade, The Social Act and Epicycle. Ellis has shared the bill with Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Blondie, Dave Davies (The Kinks), Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), UB40, The Neville Brothers, and the late SNL star Chris Farley to name a few. Rob Hughes joined the ABC 7 Eyewitness News team as a weekend evening anchor and a weekday reporter in August 2023. Hughes joins ABC 7 from Atlanta News First, the CBS station in Atlanta where he first served as weekend morning anchor/reporter and was quickly promoted to weekday morning anchor/reporter. He covered numerous major stories including Georgia’s transition from red state to swing state, an Atlanta Braves World Series, and the impact of tropical storm Hurricane Zeta, for which the news team won an Emmy® Award for Best Mor ning Newscast.
