Commissioner Scott Britton Bio
Commissioner Scott Britton grew up in a small farming community in Central Illinois and has maintained a personal and political philosophy heavily grounded in the values and principles of his rural hometown. Commissioner Britton received his BA from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and his law degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He moved to Chicago after graduating from law school in 1985 and has raised his two children, Ellie and Jake, in the northern suburbs. Both of his children are products of Glenview public schools.
Commissioner Britton has been an active participant in the community life, serving on the boards of a number of charitable organizations including the North Suburban United Way, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook and the Glenview Fourth of July committee. He was the past chairman of the Glenview Emergency 911 board and is the head of St. Catherine Laboure’s Archdiocesan Domestic Violence Outreach Program. In addition to his service on the Glenview District 34 Board of Education, Commissioner Britton was elected to the Glenview Village Board in 2007 and continued to serve as a village trustee for three terms. Elected in November 2018, Commissioner Britton is in his first term as a Cook County Commissioner.
